Add your products
What can you sell on Amazon? It depends on the product, the category and the brand. Some categories are open to all sellers, others require a Professional seller account and others require sales approval, while some categories include products that can't be sold by third parties.
FAQ:
What are restricted product categories?
It is important that customers can buy from Amazon with confidence; for this reason, certain product categories are referred to as 'restricted product categories'. Amazon may require performance reviews, additional fees and other requirements so that you can sell specific brands or offer products in restricted categories. You can request approval in Seller Central.

What you need to start selling products
To start selling a product on Amazon, you'll create a product listing in Seller Central (or via the API). A product listing includes:
- A product identifier, such as GTIN, UPC, ISBN or EAN to specify the exact item you're selling. You can get a UPC code directly from GS1 or apply for an exemption.
- Offer details, including price, condition of the product, quantity available and shipping options.
- Product details like name, brand, category, description and images.
- Product details like name, brand, category, description and images.
- Keywords and search terms that help buyers find your product.
If another seller already offers the same product, you'll match an existing listing (meaning that some details will already be in place, such as the product ID). If you're the first seller to offer a product, create a new listing.
#4
Deliver your products
Selecting the right fulfilment option
Amazon sales partners have two options for providing their buyers with goods: You can do this yourself by managing your own inventory and shipping the products to buyers (Fulfilled by Merchant), or you can let Amazon package, label and ship the products via Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA). Each method has its own advantages. All you have to do is decide which is right for your company.
How Fulfilment by Amazon works
Step 1
Deliver your inventory to Amazon. It will be scanned and made available for sale.
Step 2
With each order, Amazon packages and delivers the product directly to the customer.
Step 3
Amazon collects payment from the customer and pays you available funds every two weeks.
Step 4
Amazon’s customer service team handles questions, returns and refunds.
Amazon has more than 175 fulfilment centres worldwide with storage space of more than 150 million square feet. With FBA, you can store your goods on these shelves. You'll also benefit from Amazon's world-class customer service and return policies, as well as other advantages (such as automatic Prime eligibility and free 'Super Saver' shipping) that help you grow your business quickly.
Benefits of Fulfilment by Amazon
Amazon has more than 175 logistics centres with some 14 million square metres of warehouse space around the world. With Fulfilment by Amazon, you too can store your goods on our shelves. You can also take advantage of first-class customer service and Amazon returns, as well as other benefits (such as automatic Prime eligibility for eligible products and free shipping from €39) that will enable you to quickly scale your business.
Revenue calculator
Compare estimates by shipping method
Calculate fees, costs and revenue for a current or future product, comparing Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) with your own delivery method:
- Open the revenue calculator.
- Search for a product in the Amazon catalogue or define one based on dimensions, weight, category, price and shipping costs.
- Review and adjust the Fulfilment by Amazon and My Fulfilment entries to calculate or recalculate fees, costs and revenue.

When you ship your own orders
Fulfilled by Merchant simply means that you store products yourself and ship them directly to customers. Amazon calculates shipping fees based on the product category and the shipping service chosen by the customer and then passes the amount on to you in the form of a shipping credit.
All products sold under the individual seller plan have fixed shipping fees. It is therefore important to make sure you can continue to offer the items profitably. Amazon's 'Buy Shipping' tool helps you purchase affordable shipping labels, ship and confirm your orders and track your shipments through Amazon's proven partner network.
With Seller Fulfilled Prime, you can ship products directly from your own warehouse using the Prime logo, which offers free express delivery to Prime customers. This not only increases your visibility but is also proven to build customer trust, resulting in higher sales.

Attract customers
Once your products are available in Amazon online stores, there are a number of measures you can take to attract customers. The Amazon Flywheel describes our approach to promoting growth.
Here are a few ways you can use the Amazon Flywheel principles to jumpstart your business.
Here are a few ways you can use the Amazon Flywheel principles to jumpstart your business.

Provide fast delivery
Customers often buy products with the Amazon Prime badge, which you get for eligible products when you use Fulfilment by Amazon to ship your products via one of our fulfilment centres.
Advertise your offers
Improve visibility of individual products and boost brand awareness by advertising in search results and on product pages. Running a deal or a coupon is another way to promote your products.
Set competitive prices
Many customers seek the lowest price when selecting a particular item to buy. Seller Central tools like automated repricing and bulk pricing for Amazon Business customers can help you stay competitive.
Create promotions and coupons
Customers want to save, and promotions are an incentive to make a purchase now. There are three types of promotions: discounts, free delivery and a free product when you buy a product. You can also offer percentage or money-off discounts with digital coupons.

Note: This content is informative. Consult a qualified German tax adviser regarding your specific situation, particularly on matters relating to VAT and business registration.
Step 1 — Select a selling plan:
Amazon Germany offers two selling plans:

The latest prices and features can be found in Seller Central. Higher-volume sellers typically choose the Professional plan for access to advertising, mass uploading and detailed reports.
Step 2 — Register a Seller Central account:
Typical documents required for German business sellers:
• Valid passport or ID
• Recent account statement from your business account
• Company registration certificate: Excerpt from the commercial register or business licence

Step 3 — List products on Amazon.de:
There are two options for existing products:
• ASIN matching: If the product already exists on Amazon.de, search for the ASIN and add your listing to the existing product page — this is the fastest way to make your first sale
• New item: If your product isn't listed on Amazon yet, create a new listing — an EAN/GTIN barcode is typically required
Optimise titles, bullet points and product images to promote visibility and conversion.
Step 4 — Select a fulfilment model:
• Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA): Amazon handles storage, packaging, fulfilment, customer service and returns. FBA offers automatically receive the Prime logo.

For beginners with an existing product range, FBA is often the fastest way to get the Prime logo and build visibility. Current FBA fees and delivery performance for Germany can be found in Seller Central.
Step 5 — Optimise your first sale:
• Pricing strategy: Check market prices for your product and Buy Box criteria — Amazon Revenue Calculator helps calculate margins
• Advertising: Sponsored Products campaigns increase visibility of new listings; the latest minimum budgets and bidding recommendations can be found in the Campaign Manager in Seller Central
• Customer reviews: Use the "Request a Review" button in Seller Central — a policy-compliant way to ask for a review after the sale
