Verification and compliance with regulations

We want to ensure our customers have a reliable shopping experience on Amazon, so they can shop with full peace of mind.

That's why we've developed a swift and secure way to verify the identity of our sellers, allowing business owners to set up a seller account in minutes.

As part of your identity verification, we will ask you for the following information. Be sure to check your emails and notifications on Seller Central for requests.

Why do I need to provide this information?

Identity verification is required by law in order to use our payment service. You may need to provide us with information or documents to complete the checks.

When do I need to provide this information?

You can provide your details at any time after registration.
Until you do so, your access to your account may be limited.

As well as confirming your registration, we may ask you to re-verify your account information in case your account information has been updated. Amazon gives you up to 60 days to complete the re-verification, not including the time it takes us to complete the verification. Your ability to sell and withdraw funds may be limited if the re-verification is not completed within 60 days.

If we need more information, you will receive a notification on your Account Information page. We may provide additional information about the requirements in your performance notifications.

What happens if I don't provide this information?

If you don't provide the information we need, your account will be restricted and you won't be able to sell on Amazon.

What happens if I don't want to accept the business agreements?

Accepting the “Amazon Payments UK — Selling on Amazon” user agreement and the “Amazon Services Europe Business Solutions Agreement” is a requirement for registering for the service.
If you do not agree to these terms, you will not be able to register for your “Selling on Amazon” account, which will result in your selling privileges for Amazon's European stores being revoked.

What is the difference between a private individual and a business?

When you register as a private individual, you do so as part of a private activity. Registering as a commercial seller means that you are acting within the framework of a commercial or professional activity.
In most cases, business sellers are registered legal entities. However, you can also act as a sole proprietor without being registered as a business. If this is the case, make sure that you register as a business and select the correct option from the drop-down menu.

What is meant by “a business’ legal representative”?

A legal representative is a person who has been authorised by your company to act on its behalf (for example, to accept terms and conditions, to open a payment account etc.). The representative may be an owner of the company or a person authorised to act on behalf of the company. When you enter your legal representative's information, make sure it matches the official documents you send to Amazon Payments UK.
